The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has itemised some of the steps it is taking to stop depletion of the foreign reserves. Fitch Ratings has said ongoing crisis in the Niger Delta, which has affected oil production in the country, will worsen the volume of non-performing loans in banks. #Health: 700 Pregnant Women Infected, 300 Infants Exposed to HIV in Balyesa

A United States-based non-governmental organisation, PACT, yesterday declared that out of the 50,000 pregnant women tested in Balyesa State for the Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS, 700 pregnant women were placed on antiretroviral prophylaxis and 300 HIV infants exposed. Mr Trevor Maisiri, the Nigerian Director of PACT, made this known during the launch of the second phase of the community based Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS (PROMOT 11) project.
