Energy: ECOWAS determined to improve energy access in W’Africa

A statement by the ECOWAS Commission on Wednesday in Abuja said that the Executive Director of the Cape Verde-based ECOWAS Centre for Renewal Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), Mr. Mahama Kappiah, told the visiting President of the ECOWAS Commission, Mr. Kadre Desire Ouédraogo in Praia, last week, that about 52 percent of West Africa’s estimated 300 million population lacked access to electricity supply despite the region’s huge bio-energy, hydro, solar and wind power potentials.
