Keystone Bank Limited has gone into collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Eye Foundation to support the transport sector.

The initiative is geared towards helping to improve road safety and save lives.

Fact: 1.3m people die from road accidents annually

 Mr Albanus Nwachukwu, the Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Cross River State, on Friday, said no fewer than 1.3 million people die annually in the world through road crashes.

Nwachukwu made the disclosure in Calabar at the 2013 United Nations Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Crashes victims with the theme ``Let’s Have Roads That Are Safe For All.’’

Fact: 700,000 people live with HIV/AIDS in Benue

At least 700,000 adults out of the 4.3 million population of people in Benue State are still living with HIV/AIDS, Weekly Trust learnt yesterday.
Of the number which excluded children, only 50,000 persons living positively with the virus are registered with the Benue Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS.

Agriculture: FG to pump N10bn into Cassava Bread Programme

Labour: 118,912 Beneficiaries recorded under CSWYE Project

The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, has revealed that beneficiaries of the Community Services Women and Youths Employment Project (CSWYE) of SURE-P, have recorded 160,548,400 man hours output by the 118, 912 beneficiaries in the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.

Agriculture: Federal Government of Nigeria sets to Eradicate Importation of Rice

 

There is a strong indication that the Federal Government may soon place total ban on importation of rice, fish and other food items into the country.
Giving the hint in Lagos, the Senior Technical Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Dr Niyi Odunlami, said that government was desirous of stopping the importation of rice, fish, wheat and tomatoes.
