#Economy: Nigeria’s total export slumped by over 40%in 2015
Nigeria’s total exports slumped 40.3 percent to N9.7288 trillion in 2015, from N16.304 trillion in 2014, pulling total trade down significantly. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said in a report at the weekend that the country’s total trade recorded at N16.4268 trillion dropped as much as 30.6 percent below the N7.2516 trillion total trade values recorded for 2014.

#Economy: Nigerian stock market declines by 1.13 percent

the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) All-Share Index depreciated by 1.13 percent last week to close at 25,694.79 points, from 25,988.40 points at the beginning of trading. Also, the equities market capitalisation dipped to N8.839 trillion from N8.940 trillion, representing value loss of about N1 billion. All other Indices finished lower last week, with the exception of the NSE Premium Index and the NSE Consumer Goods Index that increased by 0.89% and 0.78% respectively.

States in the country now rely less on federal allocations as latest statistics released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have revealed significant increase in their Internally Generated Revenues (IGRs). The CBN data for 2014 revealed that internally generated revenue provided 21.8 percent of the total revenue of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), compared with 15.3 percent the previous year.
