Health: Nigeria Accounts for 13% of Global Maternal Mortality Rates

 

Nigeria accounts for about 13 percent of the global maternal death rates with an estimated 36,000 women dying in pregnancy or at child birth each year. At least 5500 of these deaths are among teenage mothers.

Foreign Exchange: Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves increase by $1bn

Nigeria’s foreign reserves increased by $1.009 billion in 18 days from July 18, bringing the total reserve to $38.49 billion, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said in a report on Tuesday. This represents an increase of 2.69 per cent, when reserves level stood at $37.48 billion on June 30.
