said at present no Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are officially grown
in Nigeria and urged Nigerians not to panic over the issue. The Minister of

over GMOs expressed by the public which she described as legitimate, also
disclosed that what they have approved was for field trials. “All the GMOs in

poisoning- Shikira cleanup stalls one year after
A rural mining community in Rafi
council area of Niger State, Shikira, has sparked concern among environment,
one year after lead contamination. An environmental watch group, Connected
Development, in a statement signed by the chief executive, Hamzat Lawal, has
said that at least 28 children under five years died in an outbreak of lead
poisoning last year May in Shikira, and more than 300 are living with high
levels of lead contamination in their blood and in need of urgent medical

from transaction and listing fees both accounting for 95 percent of the bourse

China has been told its economy could be worth $5.6tn more by
2030 if it steers away from investment-led growth and embraces productivity
reforms. McKinsey, the business consultancy, calculates labour productivity in
China is only 15-30 per cent of the average for countries of the Organisation
for Economic Co-operation and Development. That implies significant room for
catch-up growth before China reaches the global technological frontier where
further gains become more difficult. McKinsey warns the need to reform is
urgent given that the old model continues to cause rising debt and falling returns
