Ropeways Transport floats N81bn Cable Car mass transist system
Ropeways
Transport Limited is investing $500 million (about N81 billion) to launch a
cable car mass urban transit system in the nation’s commercial capital, Lagos.
The
cable car transit system, the first in the quest in Nigeria to provide
commuters affordable, safe, timely and stress-free mode of transportation,
particularly in urban centres like Lagos, is being floated by a company owned
by Dapo Olumide, former managing director of Virgin Nigeria Airlines; Yemi
Osinbajo, former attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Lagos State and
Yemi Ogunbiyi, proprietor, Tanus Communications Limited.

Environment:
Flood, fire displace 3m people in South-South region, says NEMA
More
than 3.3 million people have been displaced by floods and fire incidents in the
South-South region of the country in 2012, an official of the National
Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said.
The
South-South zonal coordinator of the agency, Umesi Emenike, disclosed this in
an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Labour: NDE trains 79,000 apprentices, empowers 360
in ogun
The
National Directorate of Employment (NDE)
said it trained about 79,000 apprentices resident in Ogun State in various
trades, under the directorate’s apprenticeship and skills acquisition
programmes and directly empowered 360 apprentices under its National Open
Apprenticeship Skills (NOAS) scheme.
The
79,000 apprentices trained in various trades, including auto-mechanics, radio
and television repairing, vulcanising, welding, panel beating, carpentry,
barbing, tailoring, hairdressing among others, according to Adebowale
Ologbenla, the state coordinator of NDE, are Ogun State residents not
necessarily indigenes.

Local Govt. immunises kids
As
part of efforts to save babies from avoidable death arising from deadly
diseases such as measles, smallpox, polio, the wife of the chairman of Ikosi
Isheri Local Development Area, Mrs. Omolola Oyesanya, has begun sensitisation
and awareness campaign on polio eradication in the council.
The
polio eradication programme which is meant for children between the ages of 0
and five was the flag-off of the first round of the 2013 National Immunisation
and it is expected to go round the council area.

continuation of the Ajumose food bank initiative for needy women in Oyo State,
wife of the state governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi has distributed foodstuff to
over 500 women selected from Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the
state.
The
food items, which included yam flour, rice, beans, sugar and milk, among
others, were distributed to the beneficiaries including the aged, orphans and
other less-privileged persons as a way of alleviating poverty in the state.
